Case Studies
These case studies reflect the need in the South Boston community that Baby Basics is able to help fill. Please note that all names have been changed to protect our participants' privacy.

Tim lives with his mom and big brother Sammy, who is 7. Jenny works full time but struggles to pay the bills. They live in government subsidized housing and are looking at a rent increase of $250 next year. This worries her. Not having to buy diapers takes off a huge financial burden and helps her to pay other bills.

Darcy,14 months, and Stacy, 32 months, are both currently in the Baby Basics program. Both parents are working but struggling to pay their $1300/month rent for their two bedroom apartment. Their father has been searching, unsuccessfully, for a full-time job. Darcy and Stacy's parents had this to say about the program, "You provide good quality diapers, it's always friendly, easy and there is no embarrassment. Thank you so much for helping us. It really makes a difference.

Rebecca is described as a "ham" by her mom and can often be found dancing or pretending to be a lion to scare people. Her mom is a single parent who works in the service industry. When she heard that she was accepted into the Baby Basics program, it was "the greatest thing ever" and a huge relief. Unfortunately, she did not have this type of support with her first child. She expressed her gratitude to the supporters of the program and wanted to let them know that "you don't know how much it really helps."
