FOURTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
On the first and third Thursday of every month, Baby Basics
distributes diapers to the families in our program. Because
100% of our contributions go to purchasing diapers, we do
not have the ability to rent offices or space to hold these
distributions. So, we have relied on the Fourth Presbyterian
Church in South Boston to provide us with a place to do our
work. In addition to storage and distribution space here
Fourth Church provides duplicating facilities.
Fourth Presbyterian Church as been very supportive of our
program. For their support, we are very grateful.
PROGRAM FOUNDER
Jean Ann Lynch, Executive Director & Founder of Baby Basics,
Inc. is a consultant in the field of Volunteer Administration.
She has previously served two Churches in the Boston Presbytery,
in South Boston and Hyde Park. Jean Ann Lynch also founded
Baby Basics in Ridgewood, New Jersey, which is now affiliated
with the Bergen County Red Cross and assists over 60 babies
while maintaining a large waiting list. "As a former teacher,
I have always been interested in child development. All the
recent studies indicate the importance of the first 18 months
for brain development. I realized that the children in near
poverty situations were the most at risk for failure to thrive.
Baby Basics, Inc. was born to support these struggling families."
Jean Ann is both a visionary and a leader. Her passion is
what makes this program the success that it is.
SOUTH BOSTON COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (SBCHC)
The strength of our organization lies in its ties to the South
Boston community. The SBCHC represents a tie to the families
we serve by acting as a referral agency to the Baby Basics
program. We spent some time getting to know the staff of the
center and educating them about our program and our eligibility
requirement and now they represent one of our strongest partnerships
in helping families take advantage of our program.
SBCHC
is located in South Boston at 409 W Broadway.
WIC Another one of our strong
referral partners is the WIC program in South Boston. The
mission of WIC is to safeguard the health of low-income women,
infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk
by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information
on healthy eating, and referrals to health care. Baby Basics
is able to supplement the efforts of WIC by providing diapers
to those families who are part of their programs and who also
meet our eligibility requirements.
The South Boston WIC Program is
located at 386 West Broadway South Boston, MA 02127
GOODWIN PROCTER, LLP Baby Basics is proud to have the following Goodwin
